Top 10 Film Distributors in the UK

1. Guerilla Films

While some film distributors are versatile and market all types of films, others prefer to be the Jack that mastered a specific aspect. This appears to be the case with Guerilla Films because they focus on marketing Irish and British films.

They are intentional about the films they market, which is why they have barely marketed 20 films since they started film distribution in 1998.

Guerilla Films have successfully marketed some of the films that adorned our screens and won our hearts. Some of the popular films they’ve marketed are Adam and Paul, The Truth, and The Calling.

2. Contender Entertainment Group

Contender Entertainment Group focuses on films that have to do with violence and gangsterism. This is evident in some of the titles they’ve distributed, including A Very British Gangster and A City of Violence.

Aside from that, Contender Entertainment Group also plays an important role in the UK home videos industry where they are unarguably the biggest independent DVD distributor.

3. Universal Pictures

While there are many film distributors in the UK, some brands are ahead of the competition. Universal Pictures is one of such companies and the assertion is evident in the classic titles they market.

Over the years, they have released popular UK titles while holding down a long-term contract of marketing each of the films produced by Working Title.

4. Momentum Pictures

Bigger brands in the UK film distribution industry didn’t start with all the facilities in place. Rather, they continually repositioned themselves at all times to harness the changing dynamics in the industry.

Momentum Pictures is not your regular film distributor that is entirely out for the money. Instead, they want to ensure that you are well entertained.

During the early days of inception, they struggled to market up to 10 films. This has since changed because they now market up to 20 films every year.

They also market classic films, as well as a huge collection of dramas that grace your screen for some weeks.

Some of the popular UK titles they marketed include The Lives of Others, Lost in Translation, Inside I’m Dancing, and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

Using the services of Slingshot assures you of some generous touches in your low-budget British movies.

7. Verve Pictures

Verve Pictures specializes in the distribution of independent and British films. They continually want to stand out (and tall too) in an industry that seems to favour the affluent distributors alone.

To change the narrative, Verve Pictures solely focuses on the distribution of foreign and contemporary art-house films.

To date, they are one of the UK film distributors that distribute indie films on DVDs.

8. Lionsgate UK

Lionsgate built a brand as one of the leading film distribution companies in the United Kingdom. They understand the business part of it, which is why they bought over one of their fierce competitors – Redbus Films.

The reputation of the company needn’t be something to doubt because it is out there for everyone to see. They have a huge library of films featuring foreign languages and horror, and they do all they can to deliver all-around entertainment to you.

As an independent producer and distributor of British films, Lionsgate UK has been able to market hundreds of UK titles that left customers spellbound.

9. Dogwoof

Doing something out of the norm appears to be one of the ways to make a bold statement without calling the press. This appears to be the tactics of Dogwoof because the company doesn’t focus on traditional UK titles alone.

It is interesting to note that they are one of the largest documentary makers in the world. Their primary focus is to promote and market films that will trigger viewers to take a specific action. Their films also discuss the political terrain.

By and large, the independent political and ethical documentaries marketed by the company will give you a heads-up on what you need to know about UK politics.

10. Twentieth Century Fox

The authenticity of this list would have been questioned if Twentieth Century Fox isn’t included.

The reason is that the brand has marketed some of the popular film titles that we always crave to watch over and over again.

While they specialize in the marketing and distribution of indie films, the company also takes advantage of the News Corporation media empire collaboration to market more films.

The history of Twentieth Century Fox wouldn’t be complete without beaming the searchlight on some of the titles the company has marketed.

Some of the films they’ve marketed so far are The Simpsons Movie, Notes on a Scandal, and Star Wars. They also marketed The Last King of Scotland, Die Hard, and Confetti.
